Welding a splice and then inserting it into a housing are normally two stations, and the gap between them is where the strands get disturbed: a welded bundle handled as a loose part can be spread or bent before the housing locks it. This machine welds and inserts in one automatic cycle, so the joint goes from the anvil straight into the housing without being picked up. Specifying it needs three things: the bundle cross-section, the weld area, and the housing part number with its cavity layout. Because the tooling follows both the splice and the housing, a change in either is a tooling change. A sample bundle and housing are run before shipment.
